Vivienne Westwood is a British born fashion designer with a career spanning over 30 years, Vivienne was the woman who brought modern punk into the mainstream. With Westwood working in all aspects of the industry including teaching in Vienna, where she was head of fashion, to owning numerous shops worldwide, all her work within fashion has allowed her to win 2 British Designer of the Year awards and was also awarded an O.B.E by Her Majesty The Queen and was eventually made a Dame a few years later.

The main reason I am choosing Vivienne Westwood to be my 'New Elizabethan' is because of a few things, One is obviously because of her looks! Her bright orange, frizzy textured hair is so Elizabethan. Her pale skin and red lips also reference the Elizabethan Era.
Another reason is due to coming across a catwalk show Vivienne created called Anglomania, the images I have seen have several references to the Elizabethan era- Here is a brief description of the inspiration and reasoning behind the collection-

 'At the time of Gainsborough the French became mad about English tailoring and the spontaneity of country charm. Vivienne believes that fashion is a combination and exchange of ideas between France and England, On the English side we have tailoring and an easy charm, on the French side that solidity of design and proportion that comes from never being satisfied because something can always become more refined.'

Vivienne wanted to reference the Elizabethans in her latest collection, the make up references the era more than the outfits do for me, You will notice the pale type face, uneven red lips and pink rosy cheeks.
