Known as one of the greatest fashion designers in English History, Alexander McQueen's label was partly taken over by Gucci, however his still remained creative director and also boasts a range of other titles including Chief Director at French Haute Couture House Givenchy, Head designer at Louis Vuitton, British Designer Of The Year, International Designer of the Year and finally, he was even awarded a CBE by her Majesty, The Queen. 

The main reason I am researching Alexander McQueen is because him and his brand have done 3 fashion runway shows that reference the Elizabethan era.

I like this image and think it references to the Elizabethan era because of the pale white skin and nude/pink lips. Its a different take on the historic Elizabethan look but you can see it references it. Alexander was a lover of History, so there is no surprise he did this in his runway shows,

The hair also stands out for me in this image, the color, the bun and the crimping all reference the Elizabethans.

I think this image is a great reference back to the elizabethans, Sarah Burton had taken on the role as creative director at Alexander McQueen by now after Alexanders sad passing, she obviously values and respects his design inspiration and this is why she has carried on this referencing/ 

Again, the image consists of a pale face but this time, pale lips. 

The hair also references the Elizabethan era with the color and frizz curls.

Here is a short video of the whole collection for Autumn/Winter- 

Alexander McQueen was well known for his outrageous designs and Sarah Burton truly mirrored his creative mind. This references Elizabethan era for many reasons, the fashion garments, the neck pieces, the makeup and the hair, They made this overall collection contemporary with the head gear- which is probably the most well remembered thing for this collection.

This is probably my most favorite image I have viewed from this fashion show. The fashion garment mirrors and references that of an Elizabethan dress with a very modern, outrageous twist. The neck dress also mirrors the Elizabethan era.
