My Design. My Partners Final Images and Peer Evaluation.
Working closely with another student has ultimately allowed me to gain knowledge and experience in being a designer as well as a makeup artist. It has taught me alot about communication and how important it is to ensure your work comes out exactly how each person wants it.
My partner Kerry clearly has a strong interest in makeup which meant she really gave my design a go and even helped me in changing certain aspects of my design. Kerry was always practicing my design which really gave her the best chance at creating an amazing final piece, which she did do.
I am very happy about the overall outcome of my design. I do however, need to pick up on a few points that were not so good about working with Kerry. During our first practice session she did not bring in any designs and I had to re create what she wanted from an online image, which was difficult. This meant I had to do more home trials on myself. Another point is that in her final design she included some pearls that she wanted to go around the outside of her eyes, due to her not bringing them in for any practice runs the assessment was the first time I had used them, which took the majority of my time up. I had a real struggle with putting them on the face and with time limited, I nearly didn't complete my look.

My Peers Assessment- My Design.
I had to put my crown on...
My design completed by my partner!
I have thoroughly enjoyed working as a team with Kerry. She was very committed to getting my design perfect and at times made her very stressed. This makes me feel happy that she liked my design that much she wanted to put all her effort into it,
I really love the final outcome of my design. Big Well done to Kerry!

My Assessment and Blog Evaluation
My Final Evaluation
Blog Evaluation-
At the beginning of this course I was dreading having to do a blog, the thought of it made me panic as I have never done anything like this before. Fast forward to two weeks into the blog posting and I absolutely loved it! The fact I can say and do what I want on my blog is fantastic. I love how informal I can be considering it's a University project.
I think I have done extremely well with my blog and I am really happy about the overall outcome.
I have been able to document my research and findings so much more easier here, as I can do it on the go and while at home studying! Blogging has now become a hobby of mine and I cant wait to start my new unit and to continue on this blogging extravaganza.
I feel I have learnt a lot during this unit. My research is
thorough and is mirrored to my final design. I do however, think I need to do
more research within the form of reading books, this is the area my research
lacks.
Working closely with another student has allowed me to learn the steps
of a designer and of a makeup artist. I have learnt to communicate thoroughly
with one another and believe this has ultimately made the success of both of
our assessments. I believe I have created a design that references the
Elizabethan era in a great way as well as making it contemporary.
For my assessment I think the overall finish of my images look
great and I am very pleased with them. During the practice process I did
struggle with getting my application of my partner Kerry's design 100% correct,
which became very stressful at times. However, persevering and determination
made sure that I got the part I was really struggling with done fantastically during
the live assessment. I seemed to struggle to get the white around the eyes
correct it was either too low, too high, out of proportion or not symmetrical. The
final look was great but it wasn't 100% symmetrical looking at the final images.
There are a few other things I am unhappy about,
I just managed to finish the overall look during our assessment and believe not
practicing the application of the pearls during trials was a huge mistake. My
partner did not bring them in prior to our assessment which meant I was unable
to practice, this definitely effected my time. I completed everything my partner
wished for in her design. If I was to do this assessment again I would
definitely allow myself more time to practice WITH additional props.Blog Evaluation-

Final Assessment
The day came...
The day I have been worried about came and went so quickly!
It was my day to create the design my partner gave me.
Here is how it turned out..
My heart nearly sank when I saw we had 7 minutes remaining and I had 1 eye of pearls and the lips to do! It really shows when you don't practice something in your design before the final test. I wont do this again! Overall I am happy with my application.

This Image fits perfectly with my idea for my final piece.
This make up application creates a 'Mask' style similar to my design.

Eyebrow Blocking with historical Elizabethan make up
Glue and soap can do what?!
Is the exact question I blurted out when Sue informed us we could use these household products to block out our brows? WOW!
Here is my trial run with goof old Prit stick!
My overall application was not completely perfect but I am amazed at the potential this product has!
I am very excited to try this again and hopefully I am able to completely block the brows out!

My Partners Practice Run- My Design
My Partner practiced my design...
My partner executed my design brilliantly. She created the look I envisioned in my head and I am really impressed with how she did this with one trial! I do however, think she needs some improvements on the lips as she said herself. Hopefully she goes away from the trial and practices lip applications because it will really set her application skills higher!
Well Done Kerry!!
My Partners Design- Home Trial
For our assessments it's very important to continuously practice the designs we will be creating, whether that be in the studio or at home, Any practice is good practice!
Here are some images from my final practice run the night before my assessment!
Here are some images from my final practice run the night before my assessment!
I think this was my best trial, which is expected. As you practice your overall finished looked should grow and continue to get better. The only thing I was worried about with my design was the pearls around the eyes, I will not have practiced with them on the day of my assessment to its a very big gamble as i think it makes the overall look complete.
Day Of The Dead- Halloween Special!
Halloween Week!
Day Of The Dead Make Up
Halloween Selfie!
For Halloween week we had to create a sugar skull make up look.
My model was the fabulous George and his amazing beard! which was a bit of a problem for my application but he still rocked it!
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and being able to take a break from Elizabethan make up and do this was great!
On Halloween Night I also got the chance to do some of my Flat mates make up..
Another Sugar Skull!

Elizabeth- The Golden Age Vs My New Elizabethan
Elizabeth: The Golden Age. 2007. DVD Cover. Shekur Kapur. Image Viewed 22/11/14. Available at:http://flickfacts.com/movie/11743/elizabeth-the-golden-age
What are the similarities and differences to that of your own design and the design of Elizabeth in the Golden Age Film?
Elizabeth I- White, Pale Skin.
My Design- Tanned Skin. However, In my design there will be elements of white skin to back up my idea of 'The Mask'
Elizabeth I- No Eyebrows, Blocked Out.
My Design- Eyebrows, Normal and groomed.
Elizabeth- Pink Cheeks.
My Design- White Cheeks, No similarities however there is a design influence based on the white skin and the white cheeks I am doing
Elizabeth I- Light Contour.
My Design- Heavy contour in Pink shade No similarities. Design influence based on colour
Elizabeth I- Red Lips
My Design- Red Ombre Lips- including black but are still similar.
Final Design, Final Trial, Notes and Product List
My New Elizabethan, By Charlee Baxter!
This is my final design- Similar to the previous post I have altered it slightly.
My idea is to create a 'Mask' of Elizabeth on my design. The white foundation around the edges shows Elizabeth's mask finally going and her true self coming out.
I have designed this look with a more Avant Garde feel to it.
My previous trial allowed me to see the strengths and weaknesses to my design, I have changed the original foundation I used from Kryolan to one of my own which I will provide the Make Up Artist with. I believe this gives my look a better finish with the product being matte.
I have also changed the lips from satin to matte. Matte was the main finish to all looks back in the Elizabethan era and I think keeping that will work well.
My final trial-
Product list and instructions..
